There’s something quite visceral about Alessia Salvadore’s work. TRANS/FUSIONI brings together menstrual blood, old photographs, glass, flowers and discarded materials, turning things that are usually hidden, forgotten or considered worthless into something impossible to ignore.
Born in Naples and trained across painting, sculpture, architecture, photography and fashion, Salvadore works across different mediums without really belonging to one. Here, the materials themselves become part of the process. Blood oxidises, changes colour and spreads, while vintage photographs and found objects carry their own histories.
What we love is the tension between the beautiful and the uncomfortable. TRANS/FUSIONI feels deeply personal, but never tells you exactly what to think. It leaves space for questions around the body, memory, identity, motherhood, transformation and everything we choose to keep hidden.
A little strange, a little haunting, and very beautiful.
