Through Her Lens: Femininity, Identity, and Emotion

@amandinekuhlmann

Amandine Kuhlmann is a freelance photographer based in Paris, France, whose work explores the female form and gender identity. Inspired by the emotional intensity of adolescence, she creates evocative, color-rich images with elements of subtle eroticism.

Drawn more to women as subjects, Kuhlmann finds greater inspiration and comfort in portraying the female body. Her work also reflects a desire to engage with the fashion world, focusing on bold details and accessories. For her, photographing women is both an artistic expression and a personal affirmation of identity.

My inspiration mainly comes from my teenage years; this period when your emotions are the most powerful. In my images, i try to recreate scenes, playing with colors, and with a certain erotism. Since i started photography, I always felt more comfortable and inspired by girls. Beyond esthetic, I understood that the act of self-acceptation as a woman was far more powerful, through pictures, and in life in general. Staging the female’s body licentiously is my way of asserting myself as a woman and as a photographer.
