Picasso’s Women

For the 50th anniversary of Picasso’s death, Spanish artist Marta Leyva made a series of small format paintings that celebrate the women who suffered from his misogyny.

My love/hate for Picasso started long ago but it wasn’t until I attended a seminar about the misogyny of the artist at the Picasso Museum where I started to admire even more these women. I started to read about them and got inspiration to create this series of paintings paying homage to all these women Picasso left behind, countless tormented lives at the cost of some of the most remarkable artworks of the artist.
