Tempo Bello: A Journey in Sunlight

Tempo Bello is the debut photographic series by Italian artist Cecilia Pignocchi, born from a year-long sabbatical spent in nature, chasing sunlight and self-discovery. After a decade in Amsterdam’s muted light and fast-paced creative industry, Pignocchi left her job in 2023 to reconnect with her roots—and herself.

Living in a tent and later a van, she traveled for 408 days, rediscovering the emotional and creative power of sunlight. Through photography, she explored themes of womanhood, identity, and freedom from the taboos and machismo of her upbringing.

Tempo Bello—Italian for “good weather”—became both a visual diary and a personal awakening. In reconnecting with light, Pignocchi reclaimed her voice, using images to weave memories, emotions, and the fragmented experience of growing up in a culture that often left her feeling out of place.

Now based in Italy, she continues to merge personal narrative with poetic visuals, using art as a tool for reflection and liberation.
