London-based queer photographer Vlada Nebo, known for her intimate self-portraits exploring bare skin, emptiness, and vulnerability, has turned her lens on herself while in recovery. After dislocating her elbow — a devastating injury for someone whose work depends on the body’s precision — Vlada began documenting the slow process of healing through a new series of self-portraits. Cast-bound and limited in movement, Tender Mechanics captures the quiet tension of stillness, the strange disconnection from one’s own body, and the fragile beauty of re-learning touch.
