Born and raised in the open landscape of Skåne, Sweden, Filippa Edghill is daugther of a Swedish mother and a Bajan father. Sweden gives her an appreciation for the shifting experiences of the North. Darkness and light forever changing back and forth. Barbados gives her a love for the ocean, a closeness to nature and lots of cousins. Filippa is currently living and working in the French seaside town Biarritz.
“My work reflects my personal experiences of being young and female in our modern society. Painting lets me make sense of what is happening around and inside me. In the act of creation I feel meaningful, like the essence of being human is to be able to create.”
