At what point do you stop being a girl and start becoming a woman?
For Fanny Beckman, there doesn’t seem to be a clear answer.
In Gränsland, the Swedish photographer looks back at her childhood, her twenties, and all the confusing space in between. Barbie dolls, family memories, ageing bodies, beauty standards, femininity, feminism — nothing is off the table.
The series is deeply personal, but it’s also about something many of us know: learning which parts of ourselves we’re expected to keep, hide, or grow out of.
And maybe growing up doesn’t mean choosing one version of yourself.
Maybe you can be soft and outspoken. Feminine and feminist. Serious and playful.
You don’t have to pick a side.
You can be it all.
