VICTORIA VINAS — WHAT WAS NEVER SAID

A love story hidden between the lines of history.

French photographer and artistic director Victoria Vinas explores the love stories history may have chosen not to name in What Was Never Said, part of her series Hidden Loves.

Set against misty fields, forests and soft evening light, the photographs follow two women whose relationship feels both intimate and almost timeless. They hold hands, embrace, wander through nature and share quiet moments, while dressed in simple white clothes that give the images a dreamlike, almost historical quality.

The series imagines the stories that may have been hidden behind words like “friends,” “companions” or “ladies-in-waiting”, when perhaps another word belonged to them.

There’s something beautifully tender about these images. Rather than trying to rewrite history, Victoria gives us a glimpse of the love that might have been there all along.

Some love stories were never written down. That doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. ♡
