Baharak Khaleghi is an Iranian multimedia artist based in the US, who uses self-portraiture as a means to promote dialogue about womxn’s issues. Her work is a reflection on her own experiences as well as the challenges faced by other womxn.
My body has always been suppressed, culturally, socially, and politically. My role as a female artist, who shares nude self-portraits, is not just breaking the cultural and social taboos, but also getting to know another world where each of us is apart from sex and gender. This is my choice, my consent.
