Video Premiere: Bec Sandridge – “Healthy Shock” (ft. Dykes On Bikes Melbourne)

In her latest single, “Healthy Shock”, Australian genre-shredder Bec Sandridge delivers a visceral ode to queer desire, gender’s shapeshifting edges, and the raw pleasure of taking up space. Premiering today on Curated By Girls, the accompanying video—equal parts parade and reclamation—features the indomitable Dykes On Bikes Melbourne, rolling through the frame like a sonic boom on chrome.

Sandridge has long thrived in contradiction—slinky synths and jagged guitars, operatic vibrato and punk grit. But “Healthy Shock”, the second single from her upcoming album Happy Futures (out in October), channels a new kind of freedom. The track pulses with queer tension and self-determination, orbiting one central question: What does power look like when it’s claimed on queer terms?

Healthy Shock was born from my obsession with the slipperiness of femininity and butchness—that glimmering space between pretty and handsome that has no real name, I wanted it to bruise, bite, and crack open… Reclaim dyke. Reclaim butch. The feminine. The masculine. Spit. Scream. Break it open. Keep the noise and the mess. — Bec Sandridge

That rawness is baked into every twitch of the production. Co-produced with Nick Zaharias (May-a, The Buoys) and mixed by Cian Riordan (St. Vincent, Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish), “Healthy Shock” rides a line between chaos and control. Contributions from Emily Retsas (Phoebe Bridgers, Kim Gordon) and Tony Buchen (Tegan and Sara, Smashing Pumpkins) give the track a taut, indie pedigree without sanding down its edges.

The video, shot with Dykes On Bikes Melbourne, is a leather-clad tribute to queer power on full throttle. It’s a reminder: power doesn’t need to mimic the masculine—it can be forged loud, proud, and on your own terms.

Following a headline set at Toronto Pride’s main stage (2M+ attendees), a sold-out Sydney show for Great Southern Nights, and support slots for Mitski, St. Vincent, and Ladyhawke, Sandridge is barreling toward a huge second half of 2025—European and UK headline shows in August, Happy Futures in October, and a full Australian/NZ tour.

With Healthy Shock, she’s not just making a statement—she’s making noise. And it demands to be felt.
