“Liberty, Equality, Sorority”

by Cécile André @cecileandre_

Cecile André is an analog photographer based in britany, France. This series aims to illustrate the notion of sorority because it is a word that, surprisingly very few people know. The term “sorority” is a common feminine name derived from the Latin term “soror”, which means “sister” or “cousin”. This term was first used by feminists in the 1970s to bring the female equivalent of brotherhood into common language. Sorority designates the links between women who feel affinities, who have a shared experience due to their same feminine condition, and due to the social status which is then linked to it.
