Meet Mae Ferron: Magic, Mayhem & a Little Bit of Rebellion

French queer non-binary multidisciplinary artist Mae Ferron creates a world where mythology, fantasy, politics and the body collide. Their drawings are packed with bright colours, strange creatures, powerful women and striking symbols, from Lilith and Saint Sebastian to burning flags, flowers, chains and rebellious slogans.

The result is playful, sometimes dark, and always a little wild.

There’s something wonderfully unruly about Mae’s work. Feminist references and political symbols sit alongside fantastical creatures and dreamy landscapes, creating images that feel both ancient and completely of the moment.

Basically, if mythology, punk posters and feminist folklore had a very colourful baby, it might look a little something like this.
